President of Investec Real Estate Companies, Kenny Slaught founded the firm in 1983

Kenneth Slaught is the president and founder of Investec Real Estate Companies. He has grown the firm into the largest real estate development and management business in Santa Barbara County over the past 33 years, acquiring over three million square feet of coastal California apartment, retail, business, and self-storage properties. His company currently employs forty individuals, oversees more than $1 billion in assets, and is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management. Additionally, Investec has been a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

While serving as president, Kenny Slaught has had an instrumental role in establishing the firm’s investment strategies and policies, overseeing its asset class allocations and managing its business decisions. Under his leadership, the firm has generated lucrative business opportunities in spite of highly varying financial markets, developing Investec’s impeccable reputation in the property investment community.

Slaught holds a degree in business and economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as a certification from the California Contractors State License Board, in addition to a California real estate broker’s license, obtained in 1979. Before forming Investec, he was a founding partner of real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage firm MKS Companies.

Slaught is having held leadership positions in many of Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. An active board member of the UCSB Foundation, he formerly served on the board of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation; and is a substantial donor to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and numerous local high schools.
