Terminally and chronically ill patients as well as their families receive support from the Hospice of Santa Barbara. Most programs address children who just lost a family member. Kenny Slaught says one in 20 kids lose one parent before turning 20, and 20 percent experience a loss before adulthood. Hospice of Santa Barbara’s mission is to offer free programs to individuals struggling with grief, in order to help them mitigate depression.
