Kenny Slaught – Santa Barbara Is Perfect For Setting Up Startups
Santa Barbara became a well known spot for businesses, in addition to being a major tourist destination, Kenny Slaught explains. Firms created over the past years, such as AppScale, LastLine, TrackR, and Salty Girl Seafood, were started by former students of University of California Santa Barbara. The greater LA area is a much bigger market than the Central Coast, where the investments per capita in development were twice as high. Its firms gathered more than $200 million from private investors over the past year. Local entrepreneurs know the meaning of starting a business in less explored areas, although Silicon Valley and Hollywood might be more popular. So, the area is a great place to start a business in biotech, medical, technology, and science. Some of the startups here include Inogen, Raytheon, Sonos, and BioIQ.
