The programs at Hospice of Santa Barbara provide support for those terminally ill and their loved ones. A lot of the programs concentrate on kids as they cope with losing a caretaker. About 20 percent of children have a caretaker die before they turn 18, while one in 20 loses a parent before reaching adult age. Kenny Slaught explains that the Hospice strives to help families cope and avoid issues like depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
