David Low took his bachelor’s degree in biology from UC San Diego, prior to earing a master’s degree in microbiology from San Diego State University and a Ph.D. in cellular biochemistry from UC Irvine. He conducted research in molecular microbiology in the lab of Stanley Falkow, now a professor emeritus in microbiology and immunology, as a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University. In 1998, Low joined the UCSB faculty after 13 years as a professor at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center.
